Bart Hubbard has been involved in the martial arts for four decades. He studied TKD, Kenpo, and Modern Arnis as a youth. He began training Wing Chun Kung Fu in 1992 from Sifu Carlan Steward of Sacramento, CA in the Traditional Wing Chun system of William Cheung (Cheung Chuk Hing), a renowned student of Yip Man. He holds the 2nd Level Black Sash.
In addition to four years of Wing Chun teaching experience, Bart worked professionally in nightclub security effectively applying Wing Chun principles and techniques to real life situations.
In 1998 Bart moved to Southern California and trained at the Inosanto Acdemy and then in 1999 Bart began training in Doce Pares Eskrima under Ramon and Eva Cañete Rubia. He was the 2000 WEKAF Middle Heavyweight US National Champion and took 2nd Place in the 2000 WEKAF World Championship. He participated in two Dog Brothers Gatherings including the last one held at the park in Hermosa Beach. In 2003 Bart moved back to Sacramento and ran Capital Doce Pares until 2007.
Bart began studying Brazilian Jiujitsu with Felipe Bragiao in 2010, regularly competing until 2020. He regularly visits other gyms across the country to learn and train and even made the trip to Brazil to train in 2019. He received his brown belt in 2022 and continues to train at Bragiao Brazilian Jiujitsu with the Carlson Gracie Team.
